A common concern is the venue's size; being a small bistro, it can get crowded, especially during peak times. Some diners recommend making reservations to secure a table, as walk-ins can result in long waits. A few patrons have pointed out that while the menu is clear and enticing, they would love to see even more variety in options for non-seafood lovers. Occasionally, the dinner rush leads to slower service, leaving some customers feeling rushed during their meal. However, this is often overshadowed by the quality of the food and overall experience.
Sunday lunchtime at the Rock a Nore Kitchen was a joy. We were lucky to walk in and get a table - booking recommended - for an excellent meal on Hastings Old Town seafront. We shared a white bait starter followed by the special skate wing and a cod Sicilian carbonara. Wonderfully fresh fish, great flavours and all paired with a delicious bottle of Sancere. Thank you to the wonderful chef owner and kind server for fuelling us up for exploring Hastings. Please like this review if you find it helpful.
A fantastic experience: great food, very well cooked. We'll definitely be back and it gets 5* across the board from us. Very unstuffy, lovely clear menu and a fabulous choice of reasonably priced wines, too.
Wonderful fresh fish and seafood deep in the old town of Hastings. It's a wonderfully small venue with a lovely laid back vibe.
Had a really delicious and enjoyable meal there last night. There was a very tempting range of dishes, including lamb and duck. We had lovely fresh fish, beautifully cooked and presented - served with asparagus, plus very moreish roasted carrots and potatoes. Service was great, very attentive and friendly. It's a small bistro so would definitely recommend phoning to book ahead. Had booked based on previous glowing reviews and extremely glad we did!
Had today's special...Skate wing. absolutely delicious 🤤😋... lovely service and delicious wine. Will definitely return
Outstanding little private restaurant. Service was impeccable and the chalkboard menu did not disappoint (I've every faith it changes with the days catch!). We had scallops and potted crab to start, rack of lamb and hake for mains and panna cotta and chocolate torte for dessert. Everything was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough, but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. It's a very small place (25 covers as far as I could tell) so I can imagine walk ins get lucky very often. The bill was not cheap, but we were happy to pay for the quality we received. We'll be back for sure.
We enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch in mid-December. Indulged in delicious, hassle-free cuisine—each dish and side dish nicely cooked and bursting with flavour. The unassuming fish and chips presented with a plump, flaky fillet of fish that had been swimming in the sea just a few hours earlier. The friendly service added to the overall positive experience. What a gem! We look forward to returning for more culinary delights.
